Meet The Team
Alan began his tour guiding career with us in 2016 after a number of years in the haulage industry. Alans’ enthusiasm and passion for the Wild Atlantic Way and Galway in particular is evident to everyone who tours with him. Alan enjoys sailing and fishing with his family on Lough Derg when not on tour. A keen runner, Alan has been known to train along the coastal pathway at the Cliffs of Moher, so keep an eye out for him during our Cliffs of Moher stop. Alan is also a regular visitor to Florida, one of his favourite holiday destinations. During school holidays and in keeping with our family orientated tours, Alans young son often accompanies him on tour and is always good for a song or two on the way home.
Our knowledgeable Kerryman Damien first came to Galway as a student many moons ago. Following an international career in the hospitality industry, he began his tour guiding career in 2012 and joined the Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours family in our first year of operation. Damien is a Failte Ireland qualified National Tour guide and a recognized Galway local expert. His favorite holiday destination is his island in the Kingdom of Kerry. Damien has a story for every turn on the road of both The Burren and Connemara and his favorite stop on our day tours is Kylemore Abbey.
Gerry is the singer in our little band of drivers/guides. A builder by trade, Gerry began his tour guiding career with us a number of years ago. His construction career gives him a unique perspective on the dry stone walls of both The Burren and Connemara. A real outdoors enthusiast, Gerry enjoys hurling, sea swimming, and hill walking on his days off and sometimes on his tour stops. Gerry is at his most content driving tour vehicles along the Wild Atlantic Way and sharing his knowledge and insights with whoever’s there to listen. No matter how many passengers, Gerry’s tour is very much a one-to-one experience.
John is Connemara through and through. Born and bred in Connemara, John’s first language is our native Gaelic or Irish. After touring, John is sports mad and a keen follower of rugby, football, and hurling. John began touring a number of years ago and like the rest of our drivers/guides has a passion for showing our passengers the sites and telling them about life here on the Wild Atlantic Way. A Failte Ireland approved Local Tour guide, John’s favorite tour stop is Inisheer, Aran Islands, his native language skills give him an insight into island life that is second to none.
Thomas started out as a taxi driver in Galway in the late 1990s. During this time he would take visitors to Galway on tours of Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, and The Burren. Thomas noticed that he knew a lot more than he thought and he enjoyed sharing this knowledge with these visitors. Following a number of years in Australia, Thomas returned to Galway and began his touring career with us in 2018. Today, Thomas is one of our Failte Ireland-approved National Tour guides and specializes in private / chauffeur tours both locally and nationally. Included in his favorite tour locations are Slea Head in Kerry, Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland, and the Sky Road in Clifden all with magnificent views.
What Our Clients Say
Amazing day in the Wild West!! John, our guide was knowledgeable, funny, patient and added an extra stop. It was a great day, would highly recommend this tour again!
5 Stars!!! Our driver Garry was amazing, he knows every nook and crannies of the sites we passed by or we stopped at. The trip is very enjoyable, definitely will book another trip from them!
Day tour Cliffs of Moher and the Burren Today we did the guided tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren with Jerry as our tour guide. With his relaxed way of telling all the stories and facts he made this tour a great experience despite the heavy mist! I would totally recommend the tour but check the weather before you book!!!
Great tour and guide We had a great tour and the guide was very informative and threw in a few extra spots such as the chocolate factory. He was accommodating and picked myself and my mom up from the hotel and took us to the train station after the tour. Would def recommend the company.
Connemara and Kylemore Abbey Tiur The Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours was really good. Thanks to them I can travel to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey without renting a car. It was also nice of them to provide choices for us to go either hiking at the diamond hill or visit the Kylemore Abbey. We went in a group of 5 and could split up to do different tour and meet up in the end. Also, the whole tour was really informative and we learned a lot about Connemara. The tour also provide enough time for photo stop throughout the journey which is really nice. The best is that the tour provide enough free time to explore the main attraction. I managed to hike to the top of diamond hill and get back down just in time. Our tour guide, Jerry was also really friendly and kind. Highly recommend the Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours for those who wish to explore but doesn’t have a car or own transport.
Trip to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Scheduled this tour a week before going to Ireland. Jerry, our tour guide, was extremely informative and even switched up the route so that we could walk along the Cliffs of Moher with good weather. Could not recommend the tour, and Jerry, more!
Must see if you make it to Ireland’s Western Coast The scenery speaks for it itself. Jerry just made the trip and experience that much better. His native knowledge was a great addition to our trip. Friendly and helpful as well.
A great tour We had a great tour with Gerry today - he made sure we managed to see the cliffs in time, even though the weather forecast wasn't the greatest. He also gave us a lot of information about the sorroundings throughout the tour. It was a really good and scenic tour and I would reccomend it to anybody.
